Programs & Capabilities
Since 2005, the Northern Uganda Widows and Orphans Support Organisation (NUWOSO) has been empowering women, children, youth, and vulnerable communities through integrated humanitarian, development, and peacebuilding interventions. What began as a grassroots initiative supporting survivors of conflict and the HIV/AIDS pandemic has grown into a nationally registered, women-led organisation with deep community roots and extensive experience in designing and delivering sustainable, community-driven solutions. NUWOSO works in partnership with communities, government institutions, civil society, development partners, UN Agencies and the private sector to strengthen resilience, protect human rights, improve livelihoods, and promote inclusive development. Our programmes are informed by local knowledge, evidence, and meaningful community participation, ensuring that interventions respond to the real needs and priorities of the people we serve. Guided by our 2025–2030 Strategic Plan, our work is delivered through seven interconnected programs areas that advance our vision of empowered and resilient women and children in Uganda. Together, these programmes address immediate humanitarian needs while creating long-term opportunities for health, education, protection, economic empowerment, climate resilience, advocacy, and institutional strengthening.
